No more cat lady!

I'm pretty sure all americans can celebrate today, it is a good day... republican, democrat, and decidedly cynical alike (I'm probably in the last category) are all happy to herald the news- Harriet Miers will not be a supreme court justice. Miers herself is almost certainly just as pleased with the end to this process, and boy is it a sigh of relief. It's not that she's a bad person (though she could be), it's that she was gravely lacking of all the things that are supposed to excite us about supreme court justices. In a society that hates that blabber mouth and book-worm, we are proud to stick precariously over-read and overqualified people on the supreme court. Harriet was not one of these. So cheers to the system for weeding this one out, and hey- maybe this will come out as a plus for Ms. Miers- maybe all these photos of her and mention of her credentials will get her a teaching position... or a husband? Who cares... at least it's not her. Now, how will the White House do the damage with their next nominee?
